Sydney public school holidays, from Paddington
Paddington Public School, Glenmore Road Public School and every other NSW government school in Sydney work to one department calendar, so one table covers all of them.
| Break | Dates | Days |
|---|---|---|
| Spring holidays (on now) | 26 Sept 2026 – 12 Oct 2026 | 17 days |
| Summer holidays | 18 Dec 2026 – 27 Jan 2027 | 41 days |
| Autumn holidays | 10 Apr 2027 – 26 Apr 2027 | 17 days |
| Winter holidays | 3 July 2027 – 18 July 2027 | 16 days |
Government school dates — individual schools can vary by a few days. · source
Why these breaks look longer than the department's list
The table counts every day your child is out of class, from the day after term ends to the day before students go back. The department's school calendar lists only the holiday weekdays. It also lists school development days separately. These are staff-only days at the start of each term, and students stay home. So a break here can begin on a weekend and end on a development day, and you need care for your child on both.
Catholic and independent schools nearby set their own calendars and can differ by a few days. If your child isn't at a government school, check that school's own term dates.
Where a day of the break can go: Centennial Park
The Ian Potter Children's WILD PLAY Garden in Centennial Park is free to enter. It has dry creek beds, a bamboo forest, a treehouse and water play fed with filtered tap water. It is designed for children from toddlers to the end of primary school, with a parent supervising. It closes each August for maintenance. The entrance is off Grand Drive, opposite the York Road gates (Centennial Parklands).
The Parklands' kids activities page also lists pony rides at the Equestrian Centre and school holiday golf classes at Moore Park Golf. Both need booking.
