NSW School Catchment Areas: Check Your Address
Find your NSW public school intake area, check primary and high school catchments, and understand non-local applications before you shortlist schools.
Check the primary school, secondary school and intended enrolment year separately.
Guidance checked 13 October 2026. This guide does not confirm enrolment eligibility.

How school zones work in New South Wales
Three things to understand before you rely on a zone.
How NSW school intake areas work
NSW School Finder uses your home address to identify local public schools. Search primary and high school options separately: the intake area for one does not establish eligibility for the other.
Applying outside your local intake area
The department also shows nearby schools that may consider non-local enrolments. Availability can change and is updated once per school term in the new School Finder. Contact the school to confirm places and its application process.
Specialist support and other pathways
Specialist support classes use a separate placement process. Contact the principal of your local public school for advice. A catchment lookup is not an application or a specialist placement decision.
Moving home? Check the exact address first
Compare each prospective home address rather than relying on a suburb, postcode or property advertisement. Record the matching schools, then ask each school about your intended year level, start date and required documents. A nearby school is not necessarily the school serving that address.
- Keep the full address, lookup date and selected enrolment year together.
- If the address is near a boundary, cannot be found or has an unknown data year, check the official map again.
- Compare the same year levels when reviewing school information, fees and nearby activities.

NSW School Finder NSW Department of EducationWhat our checker holds
Our checker holds NSW Department of Education primary and secondary intake areas; the published file does not state which year they apply to. What we hold for each state was checked on 18 October 2026.
Living inside a zone makes this your designated local public school. Whether a place is offered depends on the state’s enrolment policy and the year you apply — it is not a guarantee, and where current students live does not define the boundary. Verify the latest details with the education department and the school.
