South Australia School Zones: Check Adelaide & Regional Addresses
Check whether a South Australian government school has a zone, what living in the zone means, and where to confirm it with the Department for Education before you apply.
Check the primary school, secondary school and intended enrolment year separately.
Guidance checked 13 October 2026. This guide does not confirm enrolment eligibility.

How school zones work in South Australia
Three things to understand before you rely on a zone.
Not every SA school has a zone
Only some South Australian government schools are zoned. Where a zone exists, the department’s finder shows it for an address; where none exists, the school enrols under its own criteria and capacity. Check each school separately rather than assuming a suburb belongs to one zone.
What living in a zone means
A child who lives inside a zoned school’s boundary is eligible to enrol at that school. Living outside it does not rule a school out, but a place then depends on the school’s capacity and enrolment criteria. Ask the school about proof of residence and timing before you rely on a zone.
Capacity-managed schools
Some schools near capacity have a capacity management plan that sets out how enrolments are prioritised, including for families who move into the zone during the year. Read the plan on the school’s page or ask the school before applying from outside the zone.
Moving home? Check the exact address first
Compare each prospective home address rather than relying on a suburb, postcode or property advertisement. Record the matching schools, then ask each school about your intended year level, start date and required documents. A nearby school is not necessarily the school serving that address.
- Keep the full address, lookup date and selected enrolment year together.
- If the address is near a boundary, cannot be found or has an unknown data year, check the official map again.
- Compare the same year levels when reviewing school information, fees and nearby activities.

South Australia school finder SA Department for Education: find a school zoneWhat our checker holds
The South Australian zones we hold are dated 2023 and do not cover every address. Rely on the department’s finder. What we hold for each state was checked on 18 October 2026.
Living inside a zone makes this your designated local public school. Whether a place is offered depends on the state’s enrolment policy and the year you apply — it is not a guarantee, and where current students live does not define the boundary. Verify the latest details with the education department and the school.
